Hocking County 4-H Community Builders
The 4-H Community
Builders is a group of special middle school students who are dedicated to
helping our community.
The group meets at the Logan-Hocking Middle School with advisors Patsy
Cartwright and Merilee Carlson, and OSU Extension staff member Sheila Meyer.
If you are a middle school student, you can join this group. You will make
a difference in your community and have FUN along the way!
If you have any questions,
please call either Sheila Meyer or Barbara Carder at (740) 385-3222.
The current project is funded by a
grant from National 4-H Council and Coca-Cola. We
constructed a nature trail and
amphitheatre seating in a wooded area behind the Logan Hocking Middle School.
The trail winds through the
heavily wooded area. The youth made birdhouses, and they are placed throughout
the trail and seating area. Signs identifying trees, leaves and birds were also
mounted on the same recycled materials.
The nature trail and
amphitheatre area is available to all 100 faculty members to use with their 900+
middle school students. This “outdoor laboratory” will enhance the students’
appreciation of environmental preservation and utilization.

looks GREAT!
